ABOUT THE RESILIENT HUB
Ashley Costello
Psychotherapist, counsellor, TEDx speaker, author and founder of The Resilient Hub — supporting children, teens, adults, schools and communities to build resilience.
ASHLEY’S STORY
A family breakdown that led to a breakthrough
Ashley was 16 when her dad had his first nervous breakdown. Her world fell apart, and with a six-year-old sister at home, the family did not know how to explain something so complex to a child.
What came from that experience was a deep desire to understand what had happened. Psychology became the natural path, and that curiosity became the foundation for a lifetime of work supporting mental health, resilience and emotional wellbeing.
WHY IT MATTERS
Understanding changes everything
Six years later, Ashley’s dad had his second breakdown. This time, she understood what was happening, where to go and how to get help.
Her sister was now 12 and asking questions. Being able to answer them made the world of difference. That experience still sits at the heart of the work today: children and young people need to be seen, heard and supported.
THE PATH
From psychology to counselling, schools and global experience
Ashley’s work has included corporate training, counselling, psychotherapy and leading therapeutic support in international schools. Every role reinforced the same truth: people are the greatest teachers.
She became one of the youngest counsellors in the country after initially being told she was too young. Her family story, life experience and determination helped shape the practitioner she became.
THE TEDX EVOLUTION
The moment resilience became the mission
In 2019, Ashley delivered a TEDx talk on whether education is broken. The word people kept coming back to afterwards was resilience. It became clear that resilience was the missing thread — not just for children, but for families, schools, adults and communities.
The Resilient Kid
Supporting children and families with confidence, anxiety, emotional regulation and resilience.
The Resilient Teen
Helping teens and young adults navigate pressure, identity, exams, transitions and independence.
The Resilient Hub
Bringing together the full ecosystem for children, teens, adults, schools and professionals.
ASHLEY’S APPROACH
Not expert pressure — real support
Ashley does not believe families need more judgement or experts barking orders. Her approach is warm, practical and grounded in the belief that parents know their children best.
One of the phrases at the heart of the work is: we are here to walk each other home. The Hub exists to walk beside people — not to shame, overwhelm or tell them they are getting it wrong.
OUR MISSION
Resilience for every stage of life
Children and adolescents need to be seen, heard and supported.
Parents and carers need practical tools, not more pressure.
Schools need support that works in real classrooms.
Adults and teams need space to understand stress, capacity and wellbeing.
Communities need resilience before the crisis point, not only afterwards.
